After a brief hiatus, we’re back! In this episode, we catch up on everything that’s happened over the last three weeks. Evan dropped a big announcement—he’s engaged! He shares the exciting details of how the proposal went down during the Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico, with drones, fireworks, and even a glowing skull firing lasers, making for a wild but magical moment. There’s a fun side story about how he managed to pull off the surprise proposal without Chelsea catching on, despite some well-played “hints” from her best friend.
We talk about wedding planning, and how quickly the conversation has shifted to "When’s the date?" Evan shares his early thoughts on planning, including the desire to make the day special without it feeling cookie-cutter. We also dive into the pros and cons of big traditional weddings versus more personal and unique celebrations.

New Mexico Engagement and Balloon Fiesta

Speaker 1So , yeah , I think we missed three weeks , evan went out of town .
Speaker 2Yeah , it's been busy time and then , just like life , was in the way For a little bit so yeah , man , I went vacation , uh , went on a cruise with good old kevin , and uh , that was fun just kevin just just kevin , yeah , it's me and kevin , we shared a room .
Speaker 1No girls , no , no , we don't need that . No , it was a little couple's cruise and uh wait , was it actually a couple's cruise ?
Speaker 2or was it like like there's all couples on the cruise no , no , no , it was like me , chel's kevin and chandler okay , I just don't know if it was like like an actual .
Speaker 1No , no , no , no oh that'd be interesting yeah that'd be like a swingers cruise or something yeah , definitely something weird . I mean , there's some of that for sure , as you're walking down the hall , you can see the pineapples . Oh , and you're like okay , they leave their door unlocked , got it ?
Speaker 2Slow down .
Speaker 1But yeah , it was good man , we did that and one of our ports got canceled because of is it Helen Helena ?
Speaker 2I think it was Helena or something . I think you're thinking of my Chemical Romance .
Speaker 1No , it was Helen or something .
Speaker 2The one that just happened .
Speaker 1Yeah , Helen Mirren . Yeah , the hurricane Helen Mirren , the hurricane , so Cozumel got canceled , but we were able to go to Progreso , which Progreso was interesting . It wasn't my favorite port , but then we got back and then Kevin and I both worked a week and then I went to New Mexico and then I went to new mexico , and then kevin went to orlando and got completely blue balled by hurricane milton . Oh yeah , yeah , they weren't able to do anything I didn't even know you went to new mexico .
Speaker 2When you got back , I did . That's , uh , that's where all the fun stuff happened the engagement , oh yeah , because , yeah , because , since , uh , since we have last recorded , evan is now engaged , that's true . So he's one of us , one of us Halfway .
Speaker 1The transformation's not yet complete , but it's getting there . Yeah , man , new Mexico . She also lived there for 10 years and that is where her heart is for sure . She loves that place . Did you have it planned out or was ? It , the engagement , yeah , oh yeah , okay , I mean probably for four months oh yeah , yeah , four or five months you're on it .
Speaker 1I uh , as soon as we decided we were gonna go to New Mexico , because , um , she goes like every year and the past couple of times I've been like , ah , you know I might be kind of a drag , like I'm not the most social person , and then you're there with like all your friends and you know it's like that , that , like hey , I'm that guy that she's with .
Speaker 2I don't know any of you , yeah .
Speaker 1And it doesn't help that I'm not , like you know , the center of attention all the time . So , like , um , I just , you know , remain quiet , usually in the corner , so I don't want to go and be a kind of a burden . But this time I was like you know what , let's do this thing and why not go all the way and make it this fun experience ? And , um , there's gonna be the balloon fiesta in october . When we went , so I was like , okay , I can , it's coming together , I can do it during the balloon fiesta and it's gonna be like the balloons . And so I once got , uh got some tickets and you can do during the morning , where they take off , or you can do at night , where they don't take off , but they fill it up with uh air and then they uh light it up at nighttime . It's called the glow , yeah , so they're like all firing off the video I saw the video .
Speaker 1The video was super cool yeah , um , so okay , we fast forward , we get there , everything's great . Uh , she , to my knowledge , has no no idea at all that this is happening . And it's funny . Uh , you know , I'm I gradually told people as we're getting closer and closer to the date and uh're like , well , make sure her nails are done and all that stuff . And I'm like , how would I even begin to do that ? Hey , why don't ?
Speaker 2you take yourself a little meet and greet and get your nails done real quick . Yeah , you're going to wear that . This is something you've never said to me before , why would I go do that right now ?
Speaker 1So it was tough , man , it was tough to poker face that . And luckily her best friend , danica , who made the ring that's cool . Yeah , she lives there and that's who Chelsea goes to visit and stays with , so luckily she perfectly facilitated that whole mirage of hey , you know , I just got my nails nails done , but I'm not really happy with them . Can we do our nails together ? And Chelsea's like , oh okay , and Danica , oh my god .
Speaker 2Just do your ring finger .
Speaker 1You're selling it so good . And the day of Chelsea's like , I'm just gonna , you know , I don't know Wear sweatpants and Danica's like let's try this , let's try this shirt .
Speaker 1And I'm like , oh my gosh , she's . You don't know it , chels , but she's saving you right now . So that all happened . And , um , we get there and of course it's . It's like stupid hot and I don't understand why . It's october , like go away . You know it's supposed to be cold , and so we're like sweating , trying to look nice , and , uh , the glow finally approaches and it's too windy . The balloons can't go up . They were trying and it's it's pretty intense , dude . I mean , you can get right up to those balloons , like you can touch them as they're going up and with the wind picks up , they'll just go right over you and everyone's like screaming , the kids like , oh my god . So a few got up , but not not like the pictures that I was seeing . So I'm like , oh crap , this is not gonna happen , I'm not gonna get that shot , you know like of the balloons up and then doing the whole thing
Spontaneous Proposal During Drone Show
Speaker 1.
Speaker 1So , danica and I , cause we're we're obviously we know , we're like kind of like looking at each other like oh crap , like are we going to do this thing or we're not going to do it ? And I thought about cause we were going to the Japanese bath house later in the week and I was like , okay , that's like romantic , that may be kind of cool , so maybe I wait till then and I kind of like was settling on that decision , as we're like , walking around , there's no more balloons , like everything's kind of falling apart , but they're doing a drone show with fireworks , and so we stuck around for that and the drones went up and they're doing some fun stuff . And Chels before that was like you know , I , I love you guys . This is amazing , the two people I love the most . I'm like , oh , my god , okay , it has to happen right now . Now we're good yeah it has to happen .
Speaker 1So , um , she's like uh , I'm trying to like get the camera working because it's at night and it it's extremely difficult to get good pictures with a , you know , legit camera at night , you know it's not like an iphone . So , um , I got this attachment to go on , the camera that'll hold the iphone to do video , and then , um , the camera . And , luckily , I mean , she didn't really think anything about it , so I have the camera , the iphone on top you're being like a camera right like a tech nerd and , um , I set the iPhone up , set it to record and she's like come on , let's take a picture with the drones .
Speaker 1I'm like , okay , here we go . She's like , okay , you ready , dee , comes over , give her the camera . I grab the ring out of my backpack and it's in like this kind of like Harry Potter horcrux , kind of like harry potter horcrux , kind of like container thing . So , um , grab it , put in my jacket pocket , go over , take the picture . And uh , yeah , just , we take it . And I , I turn to face her and uh , I'm like I love you . And boom , that was it . That was the trigger that she's like , oh my god , this is happening .
Speaker 1She just immediately she knew right , dude immediately , when I turned and looked at her and said I love you , I'm like , do I not do that all the time ?
Speaker 2I guess , I don't know , but not in this situation yeah , is that ? A character for you yeah public and turn to her and say yeah , yeah , yeah .
Speaker 1So um , yeah , that was really really funny so about girls , as they noticed it ?
Speaker 1oh yeah , especially her . I mean , she , she's quick dude and I I really thought there's gonna be no way I'm gonna get through all these months without her finding out . But she , like , after the fact , she's like I kind of had little inklings but at the same time my brain was telling me , no , there's no way he's not doing this , like there's no way I know his finances , like when would this would have happened ? You know , like so that happened , took a knee . Of course , everything went great , said yes , yes and uh . While we're sitting there like hugging and kissing and like it's a big magical moment , there's a drone show behind us . That's like there's fireworks going off behind us . I'll show you the video . I had no idea it was gonna happen . It was just the drones up top . And then all of a sudden , they're like fireworks are shooting up as we're hugging and like it's this crazy magical moment , and then , like the drones turn into this skull that shoots lasers down to the ground .
Speaker 2So like that's kind of like perfect .
Speaker 1Yeah , it's hilarious . So , and there's like a one of the balloon carriages . I don't know what it's called , but it had the you know the fire .
Speaker 1The best of the fire that shoots up in the air , yeah , so like , as we're shooting lasers , it was shooting fire up in the sky , so that's all happening behind us the whole time . Um , I'm glad we caught it on video . I mean , it's not it . It was hard to do it , but d was able to get kind of both in the same frame a little bit , so that's cool . That happened , dude , and uh , it was great . Uh , she loved the ring . Dee did a great job making it and there's no other ring like it in the world .
Speaker 1So that's cool . That's cool man . That's how it went down . And then we had a great trip into Mexico and came back Thursday , nice , last Thursday .
Speaker 2You still haven't thought of a date yet ?
Speaker 1Nah , man , she warned me . She's like . This is what you're gonna hear every time . What's the date ? Did you set a date ?
Speaker 2and I've heard it probably 10 times now and I'm like none of those times were from your mom no , not once yet .
Speaker 1People at work friends , they're like what's the date , dude ? And we talked about it . I mean , you don't want to be engaged forever , right ? I mean , some people go years , some people go a long time , yeah , but I was engaged , I think let's see .
Speaker 2I proposed to Courtney after six months of dating .
Speaker 1Wow .
Speaker 2I mean , it's one of those things you just knew . Yeah , yeah , I was driving around by myself and I verbally , out loud , broke up with her in the car , without her in there , just to see if I could see what that was like , and it felt awful , you broke up with her . No , no , no , talking to myself . I was driving the car and I was like , look , courtney , here's the thing . I did that whole sp like driving the car .
Speaker 2I was like , look , I was like I was like driving . I was like , look , courtney , here's the thing . I , you know , like I did that whole , you know that whole spiel in the car and when I was done . Doing it , I was like , oh , that felt , I felt awful . And so I was like that's how I knew she was the one , that was your test , that was my test , anybody else ? So , um , yeah , proposed after six months , six months , and then we were married a year later .
Speaker 1Hell yeah , dude .
Speaker 2Yeah , yeah . A year after the engagement a year after the engagement , after after I proposed .
Wedding Planning and Venue Discussions
Speaker 1I mean I , it's a lot dude we um . I , it's a lot dude we um . I mean , you know , I'm a program manager by trade and that's what I do for career , and so I'm like thinking , okay , how do I break this out , how do I project , build this and everything ? So I open up my software and I'm going through , like using chat , gpt , and like going through okay , what are all the steps , what are everything we have to do , like going through .
Speaker 2Okay , what are all the steps , what are everything we have to do ? And it's a lot , it's so much , man , it is so . That's why people hire wedding planners , man . So yeah , so you don't have to do that yeah , I , I .
Speaker 1We're like we've talked about it briefly kind of going over the vibe what we're looking for and I know , like she is the anti-traditional so I could just see y'all like eloping and then having a party yeah . So here here's the caveat with that . So like um she's , she's been married before and I don't think I knew that yeah , yeah , she was previously married and it it was that , and it did not go well like is . She had this vision and not to say like she's , you know expecting .
Speaker 2You gotta be the fix . The fix , you gotta fix all the shit that was wrong . Yeah , I'm right in the wrongs . Yeah , you gotta right all the wrongs now .
Speaker 1No , it's more so like she didn't get that before . And it's not that she like I don't know if it sounds like bad where she's like you know , I kind of want to do this now . What if I didn't know if it sounds like bad where she's like you know , like I don't want to do this now . What has it been to get it before ? This is obviously a completely different level than the previous marriage , but like I think with that , her parents , my parents , like I don't know , there's special stuff like their only son and like you know , you want that nice kind of ethereal wedding thing going on and I think we're going to try for that , but not make it so cookie cutter Cause , trust me , dude , like it running sound for all those years and going to all those weddings you know you DJed , it's just so boring . Yeah , like the people must not realize .
Speaker 2It's not for y'all , it's for the parents , it's for the parents to show the family . Look at what our kid's doing . That's all what it is . You could tell when we were done and it was time to sit down and eat . We couldn't . People were like now's the time to go down , yeah , and like eat yeah , and like we couldn't because people kept like that . People were like now's the time to go tell them congratulations and talk yeah , it's like no man just sat down to eat .
Speaker 1I know people there's been rules like I've been to some where they like line it out like okay , um , she had a great idea where this um was something that they she's seen at different weddings were like they'll be . Like we know you want to bust out your phones . We know you want to take pictures . We know you want to take selfies . Whatever you can do that right now , Just do it . After you walk up to the altar and the person's there the priest , he's pastor , ordained person is there to marry you .
Speaker 2In your case , it would be like an ordained drag queen . Sure , yeah , Ordained drag Elvis , it would be Chelsea .
Speaker 1Can we get RuPaul , please yes ? So like , can we get rupaul , please yes , um , so , like it's , she had the idea of like , we walk up there , we take a moment , be like okay , take your pictures now and now put them away yeah , don't put , don't live through your phone . We spent thousands on a photographer , videographer , they will do the thing , you know . Let's let them work without phones .
Speaker 2I mean , nothing's worse than that and the moms look at each other and be like they don't mean us . We can keep our phones down , yeah exactly . Yeah , like , oh , they can't mean us . We're special . I remember my mother-in-law wanted to tell Courtney like you have to get up and go greet every table .
Speaker 2Your mom told her that no , no , no , no . My mother-in-law , like her mom , told her that Courtney's like no , I'm not doing that . And she's like yes , you are . And she's like oh , no , I'm not doing that . It was so funny , she was like who's this wedding for again . Yeah right , that's when you realize it's not fun , mm-hmm , mm-hmm . Our wedding was pretty fun though .
Speaker 1Yeah , yeah , it was a good time I heard Matt wasn't invited .
Speaker 2Oh my , God , matt wasn't invited . If Matt was in the band at the time , he would have been there . But yeah , matt wasn't invited . We weren't hanging out fully at that point yet . Yeah , it's that point yet . Yeah , it's the ongoing joke he loves to . He loves to bring it up , yeah , but yeah , uh , we , we brought it up that uh , michael and I'm not saying that y'all have to have michael marry you , but michael has married every other dick building I didn't see , I didn't know that yeah , I know he did matt .
Speaker 1I didn't know he did paul , I didn't know he did you guys either .
Speaker 2Yeah yeah , he , I think he . I think michael said some copeland lyrics At my wedding and something else and Beatle lyrics . He did a really good job . He did a really good job .
Speaker 1This is funny because you know who else is ordained who's that . Kenny , the battle of the drummers . Can we have both drummers ? Just do it , we'll get Irfan to get him to .
Speaker 2Irfan needs to get ordained too . Yeah , irfan needs to get ordained right now , and we just have to you can't be in our band with any of us unless you're ordained Mm-hmm as a drummer .
Speaker 1That's the stipulation for being a drummer dude , you gotta be ordained .
Speaker 2You an ordain off , ordain off , yeah , where they both do it at the same time In their own styles .
Speaker 1Yep , and then we'll pick , we'll do an interest rehearsal and you're like , okay , you win Like a full American Idol .
Speaker 2American ordain , I'll be down for that party . I'm not saying that I'm invited , but I'm down for that party . Man , I don't even know what to do . I'm going to tell you right now . Guest lists are awful .
Speaker 1Yeah .
Speaker 2Guest lists are the worst , I mean we've already looked .
Speaker 1We've looked at some different venues and obviously there's different tiers and there's , you know , the package includes food , lodging , blah , blah , blah , you know , $10,000 , $11,000 to do that , and some of them are like four or five , and then it depends on the day . So you get married on a Tuesday , you know it's going to be cheaper For sure . Yeah , I don't know , man .
Speaker 1What's funny too , is we have a venue that is walking distance from our house we hear weddings all the time , and you know what else is within walking distance of that place is Pandora's Gentleman's Club y'all split off one way .
Speaker 2The rest of the group split off the other way .
Speaker 1The parents go home , the party goes to Pandora . That's where the after party is . It's so funny yeah .
Speaker 1I don't know , because the the venue is actually really pretty like it's . It's this little tucked away . I think it's called like Hidden Gardens or something like that , but it's literally right where we live . And yeah , um , it's literally right where we live . And uh , yeah , we'll see I don't know . Yeah , man , no idea , and I mean I have the production connections for like sound and music and stuff . But yeah , I think you know people Right , but at the same time it's like everyone wants to go to the wedding to hang out , not like go play , you know that's kind of the conundrum .

Speaker 1Sure , and it's like uh , we've thought about doing like a full , like big band , yeah , and do like legit Tommy Dorsey , like Frank Sinatra , stuff , yeah , because at least for a little bit , and then we can do DJ dude , I'm just not a dancer and I'd have to drink a lot to get to that point where I would even remotely entertain that idea of me going out there and dancing and everyone expects it , so it's like ugh you just gotta do the honestly , just the slow dance , and then after that you're pretty much free to yeah .
Speaker 2But then you find a song where you just jump , yeah , just jump , whatever you want to DJ . Yeah , man Bust it out , no you said you sold everything I got rid of , like the software that I had . I don't even have my iTunes anymore , like I don't have any of my library anymore Cause I would charge like God . I was like freaking , like I was cheap . I think I did like $700 .

Speaker 2I would go rent lights on that Cause you can rent lights for , like I don't know , 75 bucks . Just get like two .

Speaker 2Well , at the time it was the Halloween place . Maybe it was $100 .

Speaker 2It was a Halloween place by me and you had like two trees .
Speaker 1Okay , and that's it . That's not bad .
Speaker 2Yeah , you just plug them in and they just kind of switch to the beat you know Nowadays . Yeah , and then I would take $50 of that wedding money and just buy iTunes songs that were requested .
Speaker 2Yep what 99 cents , yeah , yep . So I mean , like You're talking like You're only gonna be able To play like 60 plus songs At a wedding . Sure , I mean , you can't really . You know , we play 48 songs and that's 3 hours For us , yeah , so I mean , well , you have the requests , you have requests , or whatever like that . But I also like , most of the time like it was usually like the bride saying do not take requests , yeah , because they don't want their like someone coming in there and be like hey , man play .

Speaker 2Yeah .

Speaker 2Yeah . For you and I picked my set list . I don't want people like switching it up . Yeah , I was like I want to hear this song . I want to hear this song . Yeah , some people do .
Speaker 1It's kind of funny .
Speaker 2I had to go to the meetings to with the DJ , so I want to hear the songs that we picked for sure . Yep , yeah , yeah , that's a well I yeah .
Speaker 1I got rid of all that stuff , no , and I hope that I will do everything in my power to have all behind the scenes people not feel that way because it's so easy to feel that way at a wedding wedding's nerve-wracking man , it is like it's someone else's day and you don't want to be the one that messes it up sure that , and uh , I mean every like everyone's a boss .
Speaker 1It's weird how entitled everyone gets on wedding day like especially for your staff , like everyone's just like oh , hey , take care of this . Oh , can you throw this away ? Hey , like I don't know , people get like power drunk on that
Wedding Planning and Band Rehearsals
Speaker 1kind of stuff . And I did like I recorded a wedding . I did did a video for a wedding from someone I knew and they were super nice , luckily . But just even when everything went great and they were so nice , I was still stressed Yep , because it's just the nature of the game .
Speaker 2It's just like you're looking at the clock , you're looking at this . You're just trying to see like you got to make sure you get this shot .

Like that wedding we did for Courtney's friend Daria , yeah , where they were in the center of everyone and everyone was in a square like seated around them . You remember that In the train station area ?
Speaker 1Yeah yeah , yeah , downtown . That's where they had the photo booth when you took pictures .
Speaker 2Yeah , the buildings took pictures . Yeah , that was so cool , though Like there was a square around them and they were dead center . The only thing I could think would like you to add to that is to put like some sort of like very , very , very , very slow moving , like Lazy Susan type deal in the center of it , so like you just like slowly rotate , just slowly rotate . Yeah , funny that was super cool , though .
Speaker 1Just get all America Sings in there . Yeah , I thought that wedding was cool . I thought that whole venue was cool . Yeah , yeah , I agree , the train station there's that other one , it's like the brick , yep .
Speaker 2We played there twice . Twice Matt's friend had a wedding there , and then Courtney's friend , lauren , had a wedding there .

Speaker 1Yep , that's a cool area um very uh , industrial vintage look yeah , I mean it's , it's a classic kind of brick the brick . Look yeah , which is cool . Um , I just don't know . I just don't know what we want to do , want to kind of brainstorm it out . You got time , you got time , we got time . I mean we haven't set a date . We're thinking , like late March , because you got to be careful in Texas with weather , yep .
Speaker 2So like even late March is rainy right , yeah , april gets a lot rainier , march is still like cool .
Speaker 1That's what we're thinking , thinking like something around that time , but that's six months . I don't know if we'll be ready and then oh yeah , that's pretty quick we thought about maybe a year , but I don't know . It's just weird to think like , yeah , you're engaged for a year , you know , yeah , but then again we've been together for like four .
Speaker 2So let's say I was engaged for a year yeah and but I mean like everything just flowed . I mean you had , like it gave us time to get stuff done , sure , and do everything like get the marriage license , you gotta , you know sure , set up all your stuff and whatever else you're gonna do , insurances , all that fun stuff yeah , all the paperwork , yep it , it'll be fun .
Speaker 1But yeah , I'm excited . Yeah , man , just kind of getting back into work and doing fun stuff with the bands . Just had a Killswitch show with Deftones and it flopped , was it not great . There were maybe like 30 people there at Porschack yeah .
Speaker 1It was weird because we I mean we advertise like crazy , which usually brings good numbers , and there were good numbers on the ads , but there was like 30 , 40 people that showed up and it was a bummer because , like who we book with there , I mean they're like you guys put on a stellar show . It was just a weird weekend because I guess the previous night was empty as well .
Speaker 2What weekend was that Last weekend ? Oh man , that was OU Texas weekend .
Speaker 1That's what I heard . That and the state fair .
Speaker 2State fair . Yeah , that's a tough thing to go up against .
Speaker 1It was hard dude . It sucked because . Sucked because those are the smaller . I don't want to say smaller , but like they're not as consistently booked those bands . So when those shows happen you want it to be a home run , so it's okay , though the people that were there really dug it they'll tell friends yeah , they'll tell friends . Elite was really fun to play , dude , I mean , they're both fun to play . Kill Switch is amazing . That's like my nostalgia right there , but it's very hard to play , yeah , where .
Speaker 1Deftones is just like okay , here we go , yeah go get your night . I wonder what the new records are going to sound like like deftones yeah yeah which deftones though , yeah which one are we , steph says uh , it's like uh koino yokan and uh ohms . Oh , okay , so we'll see . I put on ohms today I just don't I don't dig ohms like it's , it's just not . It kind of sounds like they're in the studio and they're just jamming yeah , it doesn't sound like .

And me and Degore and Ohms , I don't know , just doesn't have that like inspired . I like Cherry Waves . Cherry Waves is amazing , so inspired , I like Cherry Waves , cherry Waves is amazing , so good . Yeah , it is Rosemary . Yeah , sex tape , all those are great , yeah , so yeah , we have that coming up two hours at Louisville and at Chill .

Speaker 1Yeah , I brought up some old stuff that's like 20 , that's like 20 . It's like 100 Deftones songs .

Speaker 2I'm thinking more in the 90s realm of songs . I'm like , oh , you're talking about 22 songs , yeah , where , like you know , some of your songs are five minutes long . Yeah .
Speaker 1It's a lot of Deftones . And then of course we we have Tool , I think the week before , and that's like five Tool songs . So yeah . I gotta remember all the Tool now been Kill , switch and Deftones for weeks and then all the stuff happening . So like my brain , like my RAM has been reset , so now I gotta kinda put everything back in there , dig everything back up .
Speaker 2I guess that's the nice thing about the buildings , is that it's just it's just there , dude , it's just there and it helps that it's bass .
Speaker 1It's just so easy to pick right up and play . I play the best with the dicks . It's kind of hilarious when I start thinking I mess up .
Speaker 2I do that with lyrics a lot of the times too , like I mean with Alanis for this past like three shows . Now I've actually got all the words correct , but before we actually like get up there , like I'm like there's like this one part , I have to think the best listener , okay , the best listener you have the selected few that always look at you like you messed it up .

Speaker 2I was tired of getting looked at and pointed at you messed it up Spider webs too . I usually never mess up spider webs , and I did . I thought you did . I didn't this last time . The time before I did , though , I sang the second verse first .
Speaker 1Morningstar was a little funky . We had some moments for know what's really weird .
Speaker 2I noticed in the second song we sang because I didn't have an allergy pill . My throat was weird feeling .
Speaker 1I feel it right now , dude , if you can't tell , I kind of got that nice voice going on .
Speaker 2Yeah , you get that low going , that low , that low going down there .
Speaker 1Yeah , it is a season .
Speaker 2Yeah , so like I was singing and like I was like like running out of note space , like where I was , like what the heck is going on . Yeah , I was like that's got to be allergies . I felt fine before that .
Speaker 1I hate when you know your voice and it's not there and you can't get it there and you're doing the same muscle memory of you know what that's supposed to sound like , and it's just not sounding like that it's the worst .
Speaker 2Like you either , when you're sick you get all tinny or waking up with laryngitis on a Tuesday and then having a show Saturday and you're just like . I hope I can sing Saturday .
Speaker 1Did you say you were coughing for like months or something ?
Speaker 2Yeah , I'm starting to slow down now , like it was 10 weeks now , 10 weeks total of coughing . There's still , like , certain pockets , like during the day , like where I might cough or whatever like that , but I've been good right now .
Speaker 1I thought you did fine last weekend .
Speaker 2I didn't cough when we were playing and you were still doing high notes . I was , but I was I mean like I did not , like there was parts in like toadies where I was like nope , I'm running out of room here . And yeah , towards the end I started feeling good . I always feel good during like Pixies and stuff Love doing Pixies .
Speaker 1Pixies is great . I feel like people are gradually getting more and more hyped when we play that song . Yeah .
Speaker 2I was like it's a nice because it usually like shocks somebody when we play it , where they're like Usually a few . There's one guy who told me he goes , y'all are playing Tyler and he's like man , it'd be so cool if they just riffed into Pixies .
Speaker 1No way yeah he said that at Morningstar .
Speaker 2I was like man , it'd be so cool if he riffed into Pixies he goes . Then y'all did he goes and I about lost my mind . I was like that is so cool , I really hope that's a true story and that is really cool . The true story is like man . That's exactly what we were going for .
Speaker 1Like you got it Well , it fits perfectly that riff . And I love when we found that out when .
Speaker 2I don't even remember it was acoustic . It was the first unplugged show that we decided like to riff into that . Instead we were in here practicing .
Speaker 1Yeah .
Speaker 2And we riffed into it and I was , was like man , it's so cool and we did it there . And then we just we didn't . We never once rehearsed it full band , like amps up , everything like that , it was only acoustic . And then we just like literally brought it to a show .
Speaker 1Yeah .
Speaker 2And we're like , yeah , let's just fade into it and we'll figure it out . Yeah , and it turned out to be good yeah , it's a great transition . Yeah , I was like when you figure out those songs for like you're like that'd be cool to play . Then you're playing like that's awesome to play and you do some more of that I'm down , man . It's about time to uh to get . It's about time to get , uh , yeah , yeah , something the bellings are commonly used to doing . Um , but it's about time to add a couple more songs .

Speaker 2No , black wasn't on there . Oleander was on there , oleander . I can go back and look at the list . I think there was Collective Soul , where the River Flows when the river flows . There was Local H , but that song is so boring . I feel like it's so boring .
Speaker 1That was one where you were like why did everyone vote for this ? Yeah ?
Speaker 2I was like man . First of all , that band is two people A drummer and a guitarist . The people have spoken , man , and it's just like , like that's , it's just like all right , cool man yeah .
Speaker 1I don't know . That's a topic I guess we can . We can talk about another time or whatever .

Um , I don't know .
Speaker 1I like Mondays because you get the whole week to . You get the whole week and you know this is commute stuff . So , like you go to work , you pop it on and you have a whole week to do it .
