She'll hop in the car with me and go like no problem , that's awesome . Maddox was like I don't want to go , I'll go next time . I was like you're not going to go next time I can't bring Miles , because we wouldn't even be able to do a podcast , because that kid's wild , he'll mess with the cords . Yeah , he will mess with the cords .

Speaker 1It was nuts , I'm not chomping gum into this microphone right now . Oh , you're chomping , you just pop it somewhere , or whatever . I think Angels were up 2-4-2 .
Speaker 2They were up 4-2 . And they lost 6-4 .
Speaker 1There were some . You don't catch them often , but there were some home plate mishaps throughout the game that I saw Okay , so I stopped streaming . Okay , and .
Speaker 2I stopped getting like because it just cost too much to get all the streaming services and do all the things that you need to do to be able to watch everything .
Speaker 1Like Hulu or .
Speaker 2Yeah , Even like uh , well , I have Hulu , but like we did the deal where we we pay Hulu , it's a dollar a month .

Speaker 2Um , we did that for like cyber , like the cyber weekend deal or whatever , and Disney was like $3 a month . So we're doing that for the year . So we're doing that for the year . So I don't have Hulu If I got Fubo . Fubo is $100 a month just to watch .

Speaker 1Okay , but it's like $100 a month . That's why I don't know it .
Speaker 2I don't really want to do that . I got to figure out a way at one point today that I'm watching this Cowboys game , because I have no idea how I'm doing that my kids like come on kids . We're going to the bar to go watch the the cowboy game larry posted that invoice like you , you get him larry , yeah , you get .
Speaker 1I mean , the stuff ain't cheap .
Speaker 2A five a five dollar cover for to see a , to see a band , nowadays , that's , that's not a hard ask , that's , that's a that's a whole .
Speaker 1That's a whole other can of worms there yeah like it's so , and there I'm glad that most people are being receptive . He could have been like oh well , if we're going to go this route , let's just do it and do the $10 to $15 , $20 thing .

There's a lot that goes into it , but there's also a lot of like well , maybe we , we could do this , or maybe we'll get away with this and with larry doing the five dollars . It's like he didn't have to do that . He could have gone straight to 10 or 15 per show and , yeah , he did five instead . So I'm cool with that . It is what it is . I mean , it's crazy . You can't even go to the grocery store without getting dropping 100 bucks now yeah , it's like I .

Speaker 2She asked me , what I wanted for lunch this whole week and I just pre-prepped my meals and it's pretty much just chicken and rice . You prep you meal prep I do for lunch at work .

Speaker 2It's not bad if you get chicken , cook it in the air fryer and chicken cook it in the instant or in the in the what is it called air fryer ? Yeah , and then just cook like some like 90 second rice , put it in a bag , chop up the chicken and mix it all together and like just have like yeah , you know , I mean it'll keep too I mean it'll last . It works all week for me um , yeah it's .
Speaker 1It's so funny because , like even when going to work and getting lunch , it's like oh , I'll get something cheap . It's like there is no cheap option anymore .
Speaker 2I mean this past week I got , like I used to do , the McChickens back in the day . All the time McChickens .

Speaker 2They were a dollar at McDonald's . Okay , well , I mean they're $2 now . So I do like last week I did two McChickens one day and it was like $4.41 .

Speaker 2it's a full-on chicken sandwich . It's pretty good , but that was my cheapest option , like thinking of something to get really quick . That's going to actually fill me up and let me keep working throughout the day .

Taco Bell is probably still the cheapest , but like Taco Bell is not as cheap as it used to be no , I think the beefy five layer , which was like my go to for a while , like $4.50 or something now yeah , it ain't cheap , man , and one of those don't fill you up , so you gotta get something else too yeah , so it's like You're paying $10 a meal .

Speaker 1So okay , Growing up I preface that with growing up , which probably just means over the past decade , Not my entire life . Arby's everyone does not like Arby's .

Speaker 1But I don't mind Arby's . I don't know what the turnoff is with Arby's , especially horsey sauce , oh my gosh , I would drown any sandwich . Ib , especially horsey sauce , oh my gosh , yeah , I would . Just I , I would drown any sandwich . I get it with horsey sauce , I like that there's .

Speaker 1Uh , it's been a while you know what I mean , though they just get like a ton of hate from . They get a ton of hate , but , like I , I don't know man , I'm not gonna lie .
Speaker 2When that five for five deal was up , like I would , I would hit it up well that that uh the the wendy's uh five dollar deal was good when you get like five items we already talked about that .
Speaker 1But , like , uh , another big one which I it . It hurts , dude , it's probably for the betterment of my health that it is not here . But uh , well , there is one here in arlington , uh , wiener schnitzel and they had like a three for three and a five for five and the uh , I think the three for three was chili cheese fries , chili cheese dog and a chili cheese hamburger and it just brought so much joy to my soul . Yeah , but yeah , I can't be eating that anymore .

Speaker 1It's so good though , but I think there's one in Arlington , but we had one right by our house when we lived in California and I would just walk over there , and they had great ice cream too , because they teamed up with Foster's Freeze , which is like this ice cream place over there .

Speaker 1So cream of mushroom and then corn . Okay , so it's just a hodgepodge meal , yeah and you put it all together , dude , and you put some hot sauce on that .

But I'll eat that , for I mean she'll make a bunch of that . I'll make it for a week and it'll last forever . Yeah , I got some in the fridge right now at home .

Speaker 2That should be my lunch . I need to start making lunches . Yeah , it's a especially like when you start like looking at it how much you're actually spending .
Speaker 1It's like it adds up . I mean on the cheap side . I mean , granted , I only go into work , uh , twice a week , but , um , it's like pretty much guaranteed I have to eat lunch , so I'm gonna go eat lunch somewhere , and that's , you know , 10 to 15 dollars , you know dude , do the classic kid lunch man .

Speaker 1Like it's funny because , like , my job has forced me to be that way at least in like the corporate setting , but like at shows or really anything that's like small talk related . I I it's hard man I have to like really try to like keep retention of like the information I'm I'm receiving and then like make like educated responses . You know what I mean . It's . It's so weird how it's hard to to do that and like sit there and like it's because my brain's just like going off all the time and like firing off . So I'm thankful for like you , james Kenny , just guys I can just like talk hey , ironically we're all three of the front .

Parenting and Generational Differences

Speaker 2I can talk to anybody for a long time about anything I wish I had she even asked me , like she'll ask me um like dad . Why do you talk to complete strangers ?

Speaker 2Yeah , you do it now . Yeah , you , you do it now . You talk to strangers all the time . That's right . She's not passing out social security numbers right now , like to people she like . Even yesterday we went to academy and she and she's telling the lady at the academy our plans for the day . She told the lady our entire plans .
Speaker 1I was like , okay , okay , all right , yeah , this is my dad's pen .
Speaker 2Yeah , almost just about . This is our address . Pretty much . That's funny , man . Everyone's got our itinerary when we go out .
Speaker 1Oh , it's got to be nuts . Raising kids right now , man , yeah , I know I mean when the time's right . I do hope that time comes for me . But , like I , just everything that's going on right now and just the world itself and I think about raising kids and it's like a part of me thinks , like you , you kind of create your own world , right , like you and you and you should . You , it should just be like carte blanche , you know , like kids just do whatever they want , cause it kind of it's it's give and take . Cause , like Chelsea , chelsea and I grew up very differently and she brings a lot of things up like well , think of it this way , or think of this style of how we handled things growing up versus your parents and just kind of back and forth . It's just so interesting how both of us grew up to be great people , I think , but how our parents just raised us so differently yeah at the same time , and , uh , it's just interesting man there's a
Speaker 2lot of conversations you have to have like yeah , when it comes into that . Like cody and I had to like talk about like just how we , you know , raise kids and how , like , how I was brought up , how she was brought up , how she was brought up , yeah , you know , like I mean , even the way we did Christmas is completely different , you know .
Speaker 1Yeah , that's true . Yeah , like Christmas the past couple years , it's gift exchange and there's like we buy a gift for every single person . Every person buys a gift for every single person .

Speaker 1And uh , I don't know , I mean it . I'm not saying we didn't do that but like it's just , it's not something that we thought was normal during Christmas .

Speaker 1It was kind of cool to go into that . Um , yeah , it's . I'm really thankful for it because I feel like my , my dad , between my mom and dad , like they kind of instilled . See , it's weird because I can't tell if it's a generational thing or if , like , it's my situation in particular , but like everything just seems so like a little bit more romanticized and like I feel like nostalgia is so strong with us . We're like I don't know what it's going to be for the future kids . You know , like there there's just so much , and it it not like ?
Speaker 2I mean , they'll piggyback off of what you know like . They'll probably piggyback off of what we did . Right , you know well same and right , you know well same .
Speaker 1and then like kind of create your own too , because we we created some of our own things that we wanted to do yep um okay , I know , like music taste and the movies , like I I try to I've thought about that a few times like what has led me to be here now , like with what I like and what fascinates me , and you think about , like the first time you experienced something and like , um , it's just crazy how like you get shaped from that , yeah , and you know how delicate it is , um , for kids and just what they , what they go through , especially now , like it's just so much , I mean it's it's , it's a lot for us you know , but like we know a different way where kids don't today and it's just like constant , like information , sensory overload .
Speaker 2So yeah , say like the , you know the being the generation that had like we had , we played outside constantly , but then we also had internet right , as opposed to being just a you know generation that just has , like they have , internet , you know we're the gateway you know , even my two and a half year old son .

I mean I'm not going to lie , like once they're in school , like that's what you're doing , like that's your weekends , like there's always a birthday party .

Speaker 1And because I mean presents , like if you get like a generic basic present , it's like $ 20 bucks going to buy a gift . Now it's like and you , you want to be cool , you want you want to like get a cool gift , and cool gifts are 40 plus yeah we our gifts now when we go to parties if they're not a fiver party ?
Speaker 2um , which was kind of caught on with our , our group of people that we hang out with , like , oh , we're doing a fiver party yeah , it's super easy yeah you don't have to carry a bunch of gifts around um if we go to a party was pretty much like a gift card for the kid to go get ice cream . Yeah you know just more . There's a place in Burleson called Morgan's and doesn't need to be bigger than that . Yeah , it really doesn't like like I mean what are you trying ?
Speaker 1We turn to your parents . Yeah , so that's what we do now .
Speaker 2We don't , we don't go , we don't go above and beyond anymore and and our kids always do fiber parties , and this year she opted to . I asked her the other night . I said do you want to have a birthday party , which are expensive ?
Speaker 1Yeah .
Speaker 2Or do you want to go to the Benson Boone concert ? And she opted for Benson Boone .
Speaker 1She's like forget all those friends yeah .
Speaker 2We're doing that Now . If it was any other concert she probably would have opted for . You know the party , but she wants to see Benson Boone super bad .
Speaker 1That's all your kids . I'm sure Miles too , when he gets up there , is just going to be pumped on music .

Speaker 2They were sitting there the other day and all of a sudden I just hear him . I'm sitting outside his door listening . He's at his drum rehearsal .

Speaker 2And all of a sudden I just hear Skrillex come on .
Speaker 1And I looked up and I was like , oh man , maddox is showing him .
Speaker 2Skrillex dubstep is incredibly fun to play drums to yeah , and so , yeah , I think his teacher was like no , it's like a little harder , because like it was very it's improv-y . I told him you can just do whatever you want to it , but he's looking at all sorts of songs right now .
Speaker 1I was like dude , you should do the teacher's like here , let me put on some tool . Oh yeah , play this kid now .
Speaker 2He played something else . It was a little little more , a little more complicated for him .
Speaker 1So they have to learn stuff too so I I hope he I hope he clings on man . Uh , what is it like ? I think because a lot of kids go do some music and when they're young , but they a ton of them peel away from it . I think when they hit junior high we're trying to keep them in .
Speaker 2And trying to keep because I mean he's he can do it , man , he's got like if he applies himself a little bit more like you .
Speaker 1Look at the kids that the the ones that will stick around past that , that turn , when you start becoming socially aware , and they stick with it . They're prodigies , they're incredible . I know .
Speaker 2There's a couple of kids I watch and I'm like God , these kids are crazy good . And Maddox , if he applied and was constantly wanting to practice , he only wants to play at rehearsal and that's pretty much it .
Speaker 1I mean , they all have super brains which is fine , but they just soak up and like you see six-year-olds playing jazz . It's like dude yeah , what ?
Speaker 2there's some out there that I watch , I'll show max on youtube like they're . They're crazy , they weren't get her on like piano or violin or something that's my biggest regret not learning piano Piano is the gateway to everything .
Speaker 1Yes , yeah , if you know piano , you know it all .
Speaker 1Well , you know theory , you know all that stuff and you can pick out notes . It teaches you pitch and like all that stuff , and it's something I wish I did . But , yep , I was learning for a little while . I got the the tutorial app um , it's like 100 bucks a year or something like . It's like simply piano or I don't know what it was called , but , um , I learned some of the theory , the notes on there and , uh , we able to got , I was able to get through like some easier songs and actually have the hand separation , but it is . It is a struggle , bus dude , yeah , which is so funny because , like now I can play guitar .
