In this episode, we dive into venues and the rollercoaster of playing live across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We share stories about some of the best places we've performed, like The Backyard at Texas Live, where the staff treat us like family and the production quality is top-notch. It's one of those rare spots where everything just clicks—from the comfortable green room to the powerful sound system.
We also talk about how important it is to build strong relationships with venue managers and staff. It’s not just about drawing a crowd; it’s about making sure the people who work there enjoy having us around, which has led to some great opportunities, like playing post-Ranger game shows. On the flip side, we discuss some of the challenges with smaller venues, where things can get a bit nitpicky and high-strung over minor details. It's interesting how the size of a venue often reflects the vibe of the people running it.
Reflecting on the local scene, we note how the cover and tribute band industry seems to be growing, thanks to a heavy dose of nostalgia. We touch on a few places we'd love to play in the future—venues that pay well and offer perks like hotel rooms, which isn't always the case here in DFW.
We end by talking about the energy exchange with the crowd. Whether it’s a few people up front dancing their hearts out or a full house cheering us on, that energy fuels us to give our best every single time. At the end of the day, we’re here to make sure everyone has a great time, whether they're rocking out up front or chilling at the back.
Venues, Music Industry, and Nostalgia
Speaker 1Echo Play Podcast . Oh yeah , he's like tech line dude . Tell him to send this to the top . He knows the guy he knows head on shit , mr Honda himself .
Speaker 2I would love to get a More Honda Odyssey action going on .
Speaker 1Another Odyssey , please . They're great .
Speaker 2I'm not going to lie . We got this thing , and just for the fact that my kids Don't open the car door into other people's car doors , since the doors slide back , oh man , wonderful .
Speaker 1I mean dad swears by him .
Speaker 2Yeah .
Speaker 1Like they do car rotation , so he can like test out new cars , and he will purposely get the Odyssey just because he likes it .
Speaker 2They're so nice man , they're so roomy , they're very smooth , smooth ride ?
Speaker 1Yeah , and they can . I mean , it can get up and go if you want it to .
Speaker 2Oh yeah , just a little bit . It's got something to it , that's a fact .
Speaker 1So we actually prepared this time . Well , I say prepared more like just picked a topic .
Speaker 2We looked at bullet points .
Speaker 1And we're like , yeah , that's what we talk about . I think it'd be cool and fun to talk about just venues and where we've played , how we play there and how it goes , how we keep playing there , how we keep playing there , yeah , there we go and why we do it . Yeah , you want to start with where we're at today .
Speaker 2Today we are at the Backyard Texas Live , we're playing a post-Ranger game and , uh , this is one of my favorite shows to play . Um , because , first of all , like the people that work here are awesome . They treat us super well . Um , we're not divas , so I think we get along with everyone really well . Yep , uh , nice big green room with a couch and a fridge full of water and beer and meal tickets , and it's the whole nine yards for us here , and then the sound is incredible on the outdoor stage yeah , when you have a blank check to build .
Speaker 2To build something . Oh yeah , they definitely got all the fun bells and whistles here .
Speaker 1They kill it , man , the production staff here . It's just funny how the bigger the venue is , the nicer they are . Yeah . And how smoothly everything goes .
Speaker 2I mean the same goes with like in the screen printing business . Like the bigger the order , the easier it is . You know , like the bigger the order order , those people aren't really like concerned about money as much , and so it just goes so smooth like , yeah , here , here's the order , let's go it's that meme dude and you get the small orders like the real small orders .
Speaker 1People are so nitpicky about every little detail , about everything , and that's I mean same in the venue business I guess I did videography for a few years and it's so true when they say , like you know , $5,000 client , um project delivered , thanks , here's check . You go to $300 client . Well , I don't know , man , the tone's not right . This is weird . I think we need to do a version 34 .
Speaker 2Yeah , I mean , that's how it is . People who like yeah , don't , or can't like really afford that stuff will come at you with everything .
Speaker 1And people who can just like , yeah , man , let's just go I mean , I get it if you're , if you're trying to get like your money's worth , because there's not a whole lot to spare , but like , at the same time , you got to trust in the process , like trust in the , in the business , like I don't know it's . Uh , it's interesting because , um , I mean , venues are hurting right now yeah , you know ? Uh , there we're losing them left and right here I know it's , it's , uh , it's .
Speaker 2It's crazy to just see like who's shutting down . When they're shutting down , you know like it's kind of kind of rough to watch a little bit . Um , you kind of like worry about you know , like , are we gonna there gonna be a place for us to play ?
Speaker 1yeah , like after a while , like , yeah , so I I think it's kind of a mixed bag , because so you have the kids coming up right and kids meaning like what , 20 something younger ? Yeah like we're oh man , it's gonna get deep , but like we're the first generation , I think , you and I of like having best of both worlds where , like we play in the dirt but like we also have internet yeah so kids ? Now it's like it's about the singles .
Speaker 2It's about yeah , it's not like the investment in the albums anymore . Yeah , it's not like a journey through a band's experience .
Speaker 1I don't know like seeing how bands change and seeing how albums tell stories and how like Just getting excited to see the booklet that you buy for CDs . Now it's like you know , you hear , bands will just do singles now , because it's not worth doing a whole album .
Speaker 2What's the point in spending all that money ?
Speaker 1Right and the doing a whole album , what's the point ? And spending all that money right and uh . The other side of that is with the dying music industry of today with originals . I feel like the cover and tribute industry is actually growing because of nostalgia and the fact you don't have to spend money on making an album well that that too , the money on album .
Speaker 1And then I saw something where , like I don't remember the exact quote , but it's something like nostalgia is becoming so much more apparent , far more quickly than normal , because of the state of , I guess , media in general today , or like just everything . It's just we're all so like detached from , like everything we do because we have it all , so the stuff we experienced earlier in life becomes just that much more valuable . So I think that's why covers and tributes are just really picking up steam right now , because I mean , I don't know how long it's been going on the DFW scene . I'm fairly new to it , but I don't think there's anywhere else in the world like this where it's just like it is as big as it is .
Speaker 1Yeah , yeah you're in , you're an original band . That's weird . Yeah , like , what about ?
Speaker 2I know we've talked about that before too but it's just it's so like , it's just it's just so strange like especially because we came from the touring side of it as well yep and then doing like the cover side of it , yeah , and I couldn't go back to tour side , yeah , I don't think I could do that again , and not unless I was on a major deal . That was like paying , you know , paying out .
Speaker 1But well , I mean , we have jobs , like we have careers now , so like we're actually seeing like decent paychecks . And I think there's this big veil of like oh , dude , you're playing in front of 4,000 people or however many it's like you know they're bringing home like 40 , 50k a year , you know , yeah , like there's and I get it Like you're traveling the love of it , like that drives a lot of it . You take a lot of sacrifice financially just to do what you love , but that drives a lot of it . You take a lot of sacrifice financially just to do what you love . It's hard when you actually get a real job and you get pay and you buy a house and you're like , okay , this is actually kind of nice , you know . Versus .
Speaker 2You can actually afford when you're just .
Speaker 1I'm not trying to kill dreams here , that's just how it is Did you ever get hit up to tour , manage at all .
Speaker 2No , but I would have done it .
Speaker 1That would have been fun yeah , I don't know , so I have friends .
Speaker 2I have a friend that tour manages and he does it . Um , he does with big names , yeah and uh . I mean he's all over the place , but again , you're all over the place and you're not home .
Speaker 1You know , like that's I mean you can't have yeah , you can't have pets , you can't , you can't start a family like he did and he did .
Speaker 2Okay , it's just like you know you're just gone .
Speaker 1You know , like you're gone , a lot it's tough , that's tough it is tough , like obviously , if your relationship is built on that , from like the ground up yeah then that's the expectation . But like even that , like , it gets hard after a while I think , there's a certain window in your time span where , like that's acceptable and luckily , like , we got that .
Speaker 2Like we got that in our , our 20s of like very happy of where I was born and where I was , like you know right at the time in which I everything hit right it .
Speaker 1Um , it's awesome , man , because like we have that , we can check that off our list . But um , anyway , that's a whole other tangent of like yeah yeah , but again I mean back .
Speaker 2I guess texas live that's . Uh , it's a nice spot for us . Um , we got in very early on .
Speaker 1I don don't know like I think the full story of how we got in .
Speaker 2So Cynthia , who doesn't work here anymore she hit us up to play Troys and I was like you know , like Troys is pretty small , we're very loud . And what is Troys ? Troys is a bar inside of Texas Live Smaller bar . They have a lot of like . They have a . It's still there , it's still in there . Yeah , small stage in there . It's just like a more relaxed environment . It feels like and I feel like we'd be very loud in there . And I told her I was like you know , we're pretty loud . I don't know if it would be a good spot for
Live Music Relationships and Merchandise
Speaker 2us .
Speaker 1This is a newer place , right .
Speaker 2Within the past , was it ?
Speaker 1I mean a few years .
Speaker 2Yeah , five years .
Speaker 1So this is not like a this was 10 years ago thing .
Speaker 2No , it was five years ago . Yeah , five years ago .
Speaker 1So right when they kind of got started yeah , yeah , yeah .
Speaker 2And which was super cool that she reached out , because I mean I was shocked to see the email come through . But then she connected me with someone else else who then , you know , started booking us through like the arena in there , and through the arena we got from the arena to the outdoor stage too and like it's been like super fun and they hit us up for post ranger games , which is I'm a huge texas ranger fan , so this is I'm like a kid when I'm here uh , for ranger games . And like we played the parade for the World Series and we did last two opening days and I just got told today that we're doing the next opening day as well . So that's exciting and super exciting for me .
Speaker 2Yeah , like I'm just happy to be there in general , like I don't even care about playing , it's just like being opening day is just fun .
Speaker 1Yep .
Speaker 2So yeah , so we've been consistently playing here now and , uh , we just we have a good relationship with texas live and hey , future evan here .
Speaker 1Sorry for the interruption , but to give context to why there's a cut here , our lovely , lovely sound engineer , gary , came up to us and informed us that we needed to move our vehicles . And , uh , we'll take it from there , all right , bye .
Speaker 2Interesting , we had to move our cars , but we , uh , every time we come to texas live , uh , we have to go through like the rangers lot , and most of the time it's been pretty cool . I mean , even like the parade was pretty cool . Um , no , no big issues , we have a spot that we park in time . It's been pretty cool . I mean , even like the parade was pretty cool . No big issues , we have a spot that we park in .
Speaker 1It's not like a secret spot . Yeah , yeah , it's open to the public .
Speaker 2We're exposed , we're out there , like you know , behind the big outdoor stage . But today , for some reason , the ranger security felt that our cars were an inconvenience , even though we're not on . The ranger security felt that our cars were an inconvenience even though we're not on the rangers property already parked yeah like in our normal spot , already parked .
Speaker 1And then it's funny because we had to move what like 20 feet yeah , we literally went around the corner to the loading dock and that's where we're at now it's like I I came again yeah , yeah . Anyway , to clarify , that's a different party than Texas Live .
Speaker 2Yeah .
Speaker 1Texas Live loves us , but I'm assuming Ranger .
Speaker 2Security is a different Ranger Security today doesn't like us .
Speaker 1Rioters were talking everything up and making everything fantastic , literally like we . There are , like never , any issues . The only time we've had issues is when there's like the All-Star game was a . The All-Star game was a big one and that was like Because , I mean , security's got to do their job right Like they , Only certain people can get in . The problem is like communication doesn't happen .
Speaker 2You had two players , though , at the All-Star game that were worth a combined billion dollars .
Speaker 1Sure game that were worth a combined billion dollars . Sure I mean like the security was huge for that . Sure I mean I I get that , but like I'm I love how , uh , our rep here was like , look , this needs to happen or it's gonna escalate , and they were like , oh , come on through .
Speaker 2Yeah , you know . Yeah , that was super nice . Yeah , they like , they like us here , which is super cool yeah , yeah , it's great that we were to build that relationship .
Speaker 1Um , it's just awesome how like we've built that just from the staff and they've enjoyed us being here . So , therefore , we keep getting the gigs where it's like here . It's not about the numbers on , like who you bring and getting a big crowd . Obviously , when they put on big shows it's like that . But they want more retention , right ? They want people to stay after the game or whatever event's happening and just being an entertaining band to keep people to stick around .
Speaker 2It doesn't hurt that . We're always told that we're the staff's favorite band too . I love hearing that .
Speaker 1Yeah , that doesn't hurt at all , it's one thing dude , like what the staff says , that they actually enjoy it Because , I mean , they have to sit there and hear all these different bands play .
Speaker 2Even during soundcheck we have staff on the side just watching and hanging out . It's super cool , it's awesome yeah .
Speaker 1It's cool that I guess we play a genre that is universal , also enjoyable .
Speaker 2Yeah , I'm glad we latched on to the 90s man , I guess , so it's fun .
Speaker 1And it's edgy . It's not edgy , but it's rock . You know it's not like , you know We've got some heavy songs .
Speaker 2We've got some fun songs , all the catchy songs . I think we just make them heavy . We do make some things heavier than we should .
Speaker 1It's just ridiculous yeah . Heavy bloat on some of these songs .
Speaker 2We'll do metal yells sometimes in the middle of songs , just for fun . I can't help it . Yeah , it's just it's just funny .
Speaker 1Yeah , it's not how the song sounds or goes but Matt always adds pinch harmonics in there . Yeah .
Speaker 2Like to something shredding yeah .
Speaker 1But uh , it's , it's awesome man Texas lives Great Um . We've had that 10 year I mean longer than that relationship with uh O'Shea's yeah .
Speaker 2O'Shea's is . Uh , that's why you see us there so often , because Larry man takes care of us .
Speaker 1Yep , um , and he has , he has through COVID , I mean , there's always a spot there for us to play . It's a great example of just a great relationship and how it should be Like we bring , crowd , you pay .
Speaker 2We continue and like that's just it's been a nice cycle so far .
Speaker 1And it's grown Like . It's great when , um you know , you get to the point where the venue offers you more money to stick around and to , to you know , keep the dates flowing .
Speaker 2And I will say O'Shea's is the best uh t-shirt sales we do . Is that o'shea's ? Yeah , anytime we're selling like a lot of t-shirts , it's been o'shea's that's a whole other . That's the dick , that's the dickonomy , that is the economy we do t-shirts , we do them well , we make them fun people love them I know , man , that's like that's .
Speaker 2That's fun for me , since like my nine to five is is screen printing and embroidery and things like that . So making fun shirts for people and seeing them like , pumped about them , Yep , and then , like you know , selling them out like is super cool .
Speaker 1Yep .
Speaker 2It's a super cool feeling . It's a super cool feeling .
Speaker 1Well , it's fun because it's not like okay , like what market cap are we trying to . Like you know what market are we trying to target ? And like all that stuff and just the stuff , like you know some of the stuff I got to do at work and like thinking about how you capture that , and with us it's like oh dude , that's funny yeah that's funny .
Speaker 2That's a funny shirt . Oh , like take the in utero shirt from Nirvana and put Beetlejuice on there instead of the girl with the wings , and we have our epic designer who kills it every time . Dustin is so good at designing , he's done all the Dick Belding shirts . I'm pretty sure . I'm pretty sure he's done all of them .
Speaker 1Wow .
Speaker 2Yeah .
Speaker 1That's a lot .
Speaker 2It is Well , it worked , like if we're slow or something like that , or you know , I was like dustin , here's this design , what do you think ? And he'll come back at me with something and I'm like yep , and I'm you know , a lot of times I'd be like I want to mix these two things together and it just kills it , man I need to hit him up , dude dustin's good people yeah , he , I mean , and he's worth .
Speaker 1He's worth the money , like yes it .
Speaker 2It's such a gamble on some of these designers where , like it come , it comes back and it's completely not , and then you're doing revisions and it's just uh and that I mean not like with dustin , that's happened before too like where it's came back , and it's like that's not exactly what we thought , but like that he's came back and knocked out of the park after the fact , so right yeah , it's a good designer .
Speaker 1Yeah , he's . Came back and knocked out of the park after the fact .
Speaker 2Right , yeah , he's a good designer . Yeah , he's a good designer , good dude Yep . But yeah , O'Shea's , that's where we've been playing , I think , the longest now , I mean consistently the longest .
Speaker 1Yep , right , yep Well , because he's had O'Shea's the whole time right .
Speaker 2I think so .
Speaker 1Or was O'Shea's after the rooster thing ?
Speaker 2No , because he had O'Shea's and then bought the wild rooster and made that uptown tavern or whatever .
Speaker 1Okay .
Speaker 2But O'Shea's was still going on during the whole thing , because he bought O'Shea's .
Speaker 1Like from someone else . I thought Did he ? I thought he did . We're getting to like larry , yeah , yeah I don't have larry .
Speaker 2Larry on would be a trip . Oh my god , you want to talk about trump the whole time .
Speaker 1It'd be that'd be larry on here the whole time we might get some , some good nuggets in there , though yeah , we definitely get some good nuggets in there .
Speaker 2Ministry lessons larry's funny , larry's funny
Booking Relationships in Live Music
Speaker 2. And like there's like you know , like with you . Know'll briefly touch on politics . Like I don't care about anyone's politics . For the most part , I don't . If someone's voting for this person , that's fine . If you're voting for that person , that's fine . That's you . That's what you're doing . Sure , like I'm not game with a ginormous Trump flag . To me , that's hilarious .
Speaker 1There , you go , there it is .
Speaker 2Larry stands by it , but I think most of the time Larry's just trying to be funny and that makes it even funnier to me . He's funny . He's funny with it , man .
Speaker 1Packs me up .
Speaker 2Always walking around with his trump shirt on . And again , I'm not saying who I like , which side I'm swinging for , like by any means , but like I just I think it's funny , man , like you can look at it from like the gray point of view of everything and not have to be you know , yep , dove into one side or the other yep but yeah , that's , that's for another , that's for another relationship , right ?
Speaker 1there and then , uh , we've . I mean I , I've been lucky to , I'm trying to get the dicks over there , but , um , like hurricane alley I'd love to play over there . Yeah and uh beer city and tower theater in oklahoma city . Um , I want to get down to San Antonio and Austin . There's some venues there that I'm going to hit up . Dude , those venues are great because they they'll pay more than here and they'll get you a hotel room .
Speaker 2Yeah , that's nice .
Speaker 1I remember with Hurricane they were like so how many rooms do you need ? Like well , probably three . Uh , like well , aren't you , aren't there ? Like five members in your band ? Like yeah , like well , just take four okay , cool man . Yeah , sounds good , thank you , we'll take it like that's that's what I'm talking about , dude like that's that those are the difference .
Speaker 1It's the difference between yes like and I understand , like it's got to be , like there's got to be a lot of money in the pool to like handle that kind of thing , and you kind of reach that zen state of business where , yeah , cool man , it doesn't matter , like we'll take care of you , like we don't have to penny pinch . And I think once you hit that threshold it just grows from there , because now you have happy customers , you have happy bands , you have happy staff .
Speaker 2You already have a rapport with each other , so like it's super easy to work with them . Like I mean , like I I'm not going to say the venue , but I had to nickel and dime and barter with a booker to get us like on like a slot that we kill at every year yep , we kill every year at this certain , this , certain show yep , and they were like , but it's this date and then we don't ever do good on that date , or we don't . You know , no one ever does good on this day of the week and I'm like , man , trust me , that was the best . We do good on this day of the week .
Speaker 1And I'm like man , trust me . That was the best . We do good on that day . That was the best like gotcha .
Speaker 2Yeah , because that dude hit me up a week later and was like let's book again , I'll book at your full rate . I'm like , cool , thanks man . And I reduced the rate because they were going to charge a lot more at the door and I didn't want that to happen . I didn't want people to have to pay a lot more .
Speaker 1We'd rather take a cut in the guarantee than take it everyone .
Speaker 2Yeah , and so we had to prove it at that show pretty much , but it was a new guy that was working and so he wasn't used to us playing there . I guess it's all right , though , Because they showed up . Yeah , everyone showed up . We packed good now . They showed up . Yeah , everyone showed up .
Speaker 1We packed that place . It was great . It kind of showed that , oh wait , they know what they're talking about oh , yeah , or at least look at the previous events yeah . I don't know . I think it's such a love-hate relationship with bookers dude , like some of them . It's like they fell into the the spot and they just don't know what to do and I don't know . It kind of baffles me that some people get those jobs because it's like do you even know how this works ?
Speaker 1like yeah it's about building relationships and you know you got to take a chance on some bands and take a chance on some genres and see how just the night goes . If it doesn't go well , then don't book them again . You know like there's no reason to have all the drama that that kind of comes with it .
Speaker 2I mean , there's one spot that won't give us the time of day . No , we've tried to get in there multiple times and I I can't get a reply or anything from them . So yeah there's , you know it's .
Speaker 1I mean , in some venues we we know we won't fit . Like there's some venues where I mean , man , we're 90s , but even us like there's some that uh are like a little bit older crowd , that will probably not dig that decade , maybe a little bit , you know someone will yell out play , you know ?
Speaker 2uh , what's it called freebird freebird , thank you .
Speaker 1Well , everyone says that everyone's , but you know like we're consistently on show number 200 . Now someone's yelled out freebird freebird like get out of here , man . But yeah , somebody's like we know like the age range is a little bit older , so we don't go there . But um , at the same time I mean we're getting older , yeah . So I think those venues are kind of slowly opening up . In some venues it looks like , uh , house of blues even now is doing tributes and covers that'd be fun like they're kind of opening the doors of like , okay , maybe we gotta get off this like tribute hate train yeah
Speaker 2you know like you're saving you money , and I mean like in the long run , for a lot of these .
Speaker 1I mean because a lot of these originals that are big acts are coming through and you're paying a lot , a lot of money and those tickets are a lot yep , and so they can you know yep , but you , but you like , book a tribute or a cover and give the market for that band a good venue and good experience .
Speaker 2Yeah .
Speaker 1They're going to come out Like it's going to be a good time and I'm glad that some of these booking people are coming around to like actually doing those negotiations and talking with them . At least giving some of these bands a chance , you know to . We can bring people , and if we don't , there it is don't don't book us again like that .
Speaker 1That's on us . You know what I mean . Like it , if we can't bring the people or our markets don't match you , at least got to take the chance to like you know yeah , yep , I would .
Speaker 2I would uh honestly love to get the dick buildings and the hurricane alley like that whole boat . I think that'd be fun . I think we do .
Speaker 1Well , I hit them up not too long ago , probably about a week ago . Um , I'll text them and uh , hey , did you get my email ? Because we , we built a good relationship , I mean , tools have been there .
Speaker 1Tools and deftones have been there so , yeah , you have both played a couple of times and they loved it oh yeah , I mean I think it did , did pretty well , um , not , like you know , shoulder to shoulder , but at least we covered the bills that night people , yeah , people were engaged and they were purchasing drinks , which is , I think , I think , the dicks would pack it out for sure , I think . I think the dicks do well , I think the emoicks would pack it out for sure .
Speaker 2That'd be cool .
Speaker 1I think the Dicks would do well . I think the emo guys would do well too . Just seeing the crowd there . It's a little bit younger , Very kind of college . It's funny because you have two different sections of that place . You have up by the stage where people were bringing their lawn chairs and just set them up and chill , I'm cool with that .
Speaker 2All I care about is people are having a good time . I don't care if you sit down , if you're engaged , having a good time like , I'm there for it it kind of depends too , like we don't get a lot of people up there for the dicks cause it's not in your face stuff .
Speaker 1I mean it can be if you want to .
Speaker 2I don't know like the private party we played . Those people like were there and they knew what they were there for and those people had the best time . Yeah , yeah , but like , yeah , like our normal shows , like it's . It's mostly like a chill crowd . Like if the emos played to a dick belding crowd , y'all probably would not have as much fun no , y'all need people like those songs . That's my point .
Speaker 1Yeah , it's like those songs that's what it came from was like going to the festivals and jumping up and down and going to warp tour and yeah , you know that's all part of , I think , why that music is so good is because of the feeling and the vibe that you know with 90s and stuff . It's um , I don't know , it's just not as like pop a gummy and hang crazy and energetic .
Speaker 1Yeah , exactly it's . It's it's hanging out with your friends and sit at a table and , trust me , I will sit at a table all day long , like I'm not one to stand up at the stage either .
Speaker 2Same same , not now at least I mean , and that's , that's our crowd . You know , a crowd might be a little older .
Speaker 1Yep .
Speaker 2And I mean they just want to chill .
Speaker 1Yep .
Speaker 2But , like you know , they may chill the entire show , but they'll come to you and talk to you when you're done . Those are the best dude and they'll talk to you about it and they'll love what you did here and , like you know , it's cool man shows you think we just like sucked on or just like wasn't that great ?
Speaker 1and like they come talk to like dude , that was so good like all the people you see just staring at you at the table like they'll come up and be like you guys were incredible . It's like what ?
Speaker 2this whole time I saw you over there like sitting down , like you didn't move the entire time , but like you're into it now . So I'm here for it yeah , and that's awesome .
Speaker 1No discrimination to the table , people but , also uh , epic , If you come up there and dance around .
Speaker 2Yeah , I always love it . You guys come up and dance or hang out and have a good time or like a last
Venue Energy and Potential Expansion
Speaker 2show . So someone put $75 in ones on stage . So , and there's no cool way . I don't know if I said it before .
Speaker 1Did we post that , by the way ?
Speaker 2The picture . The picture I did not . I have it though , but there's no cool way to pick up $1 bills off the stage .
Speaker 1So I did it .
Speaker 2Evan did it . Evan did it , but there's no cool way to do it .
Speaker 1I wasn't like Mr Krabs , like money . Yeah , get your laundry basket out .
Speaker 2I elegantly you know , took a knee and just grabbed each dollar bill . Yeah , yeah .
Speaker 1But was it actually a dollar bill gun , like the gun thing ?
Speaker 2No , he didn't have one .
Speaker 1No , no , because all of a sudden there was like 20 ones everywhere .
Speaker 2Well , at first he came up and threw , like you know , $15 in ones . I was like that's pretty funny .
Speaker 1And then , like he came up again , and threw another one and then like a couple ladies came up and they were throwing one .
Speaker 2I'm like what is going on ? I like this trend , like this is cool .
Speaker 1Start stripping . Yeah , that's going towards some t-shirts .
Speaker 2So appreciate that it was . I'll post that picture on our Instagram or something .
Speaker 1It's funny . Yeah , they're great . That was a good time . That private show , that was last episode .
Speaker 2I believe so yeah , originally . No , that wasn't the private show . Yeah , it didn't happen . It happened at O'Shea's . It didn't happen at the private show .
Speaker 1I thought it did . No , it was O'Shea's . It was O'Shea's . Yeah , it was O'Shea's .
Speaker 2Okay , yeah .
Speaker 1I thought it was the private show that that happened . Okay , I'm getting them all mixed up .
Speaker 2I'll show you the picture . You'll be like oh yeah .
Speaker 1Yeah , that's O'Shea's .
Speaker 2Yeah , let's do another . I still play the poor shack and we , the dick buildings , haven't played the poor shack in a hot minute . Yep , a lot of back and forth , because there's a lot of different , um , a lot of different , uh , ownership switching and things like that . And when we were playing it , larry uh from o'shea's owned the poor shack , and when it was switching hands , there was a lot of uncertainty and I just eliminated the uncertainty by just eliminating our shows there . Yep , but we are going back and playing there in October , I believe .
Speaker 1It's either October or November , I have to look .
Speaker 2Yeah , one of those dates We'll be there and so we'll see how it goes .
Speaker 1Dude , I love Porschak .
Speaker 2I know you guys said the crowds are really good there .
Speaker 1Well , the crowds are great . They're far more energetic . I think you guys said the crowds are really good there . Well , the crowds are great . They're far more energetic . I think they're more . I think the younger up-at-the-stage crowd that I don't know , they just get it there and they'll come up and rock out . But I just mean , like poor Shaq in general , dude , I think the space is so cool .
Speaker 2It's a good room .
Speaker 1The live room is a good room , well , but there's like four rooms . Like that place has so much potential to be so epic and um .
Speaker 2I prefer the indoor room to the outdoor room , though .
Speaker 1Well , but there . So there's like the black room . Then there's a whole other space that they've never used . I told Larry he should make it an arcade room and he never did . But it's like storage . It's that far room where there's two garage doors that roll up .
Speaker 1So they like I don't know if Hollywood has any plans with it now , but like the whole , then there's a gas bar which they don't call a gas bar anymore . It's like the purple room or something , but they have a whole other bar space . There's like four different vibes going on that could be , and that that's just the rooms , like . Then there's the outside stage , like yeah , you could have so much going on there . I , I really hope they , uh , they can get to that point because , um , it just has so much potential but um , it's a tough place , a tough , a tough area , I think it is .
Speaker 2I'm excited to get back in there and play a show . I don't know if we'll have to build our crowd back up there again or not , or what . I don't know how it's going to be .
Speaker 1I have a feeling it's going to explode just because we haven't played there and when we did play there , we had good crowds there's that great picture , I think pre-covid , that I think I took it um while I was running sound for you guys . This is ben was in the band and it was just like stacked yeah , in that room .
Speaker 2Was that when you recorded , like the , the shows you recorded the video on um ? I don't think so . I think it was a separate show .
Speaker 1But um , it's just funny looking at that Like COVID changed everything , dude yeah .
Speaker 2Everything dipped after COVID a little differently . People thought differently when going to venues and just going out in general . Yep .
Speaker 1I think it . Yeah , it changed just the whole space .
Speaker 2It changed ?
Speaker 1I don't know it changed everything . Everyone knows this . Yeah , we all lived it . I don't know it changed everything . Everyone knows this , we all lived it .
Speaker 2We were all there .
Speaker 1Well , dude , there's so many other venues , there's so much content to talk about . Also I have to tread carefully on some of these experiences with some of these venues .
Speaker 2Yeah .
Speaker 1We'll have to do a part two on these venues . But yeah , um yeah , we'll have to .
Speaker 2We'll have to do like a part two yeah , venues and kind of talk about some other stuff .
Speaker 1A couple more venues to speak of I did want to say like , because you're talking about crowd stuff like it , it goes well . It doesn't go without saying . I don't know if it's common knowledge , but like the amount of energy that people bring , I'd say that the energy that you bring to a show , trust me , the band feeds off , it tenfold For sure .
Speaker 1Like , even if it's five people , ten people up front , just like losing their minds trust me , we are playing majority for you Like seeing the faces and seeing them smile and just like like having that experience of you know us . Just I don't know , they're just in the moment with you and you get to share that and I don't know it's .
Speaker 2It's just a great time so if you feel , if you feel so , led to be up there , I'll tell you right now , like the , the more you moving , the more we're moving pretty much , and we try to stay . We still love playing the songs we're playing . We still have a good time doing it , but seeing other people enjoy it just gets us more pumped about it . So if you want to move , that's okay by us , and if you don't , that's also okay .
Speaker 1I think we gotta cap it there , man . We will see you guys Absolutely . If you want to move , that's okay by us , yep , and if you don't , that's also okay . But yeah , I think we got to cap it there , man . Yeah , we will see you guys on the next one , and I don't know when that'll be or where that'll be .
Speaker 2Yeah , we got to figure that out , I'm trying to get some other bands in here .
Speaker 1We'll see if we can get maybe the Tools or Soaring . Good Night , the next episode . But yeah , all right , y'all , we will catch you on the next one bye .
